Koha 23.05: Reporting Catalog Concerns
A Koha enhancement in 23.05 brings a new catalog concerns feature to the OPAC and staff interface, allowing non-catalogers to report issues with catalog records from the record details pages. Reported concerns will be visible in the dashboard on the staff interface start page and available from the cataloging home page. This feature can be independently enabled for OPAC and the staff interface using the OpacCatalogConcerns and CatalogConcerns system preferences. Bug 31028 sponsored by ByWater partner Tavistock & Portman Library introduces this function.
From the staff interface, the option for staff to report a catalog concern from the bibliographic record can be found in the New action button at the top of the bib record screen, staff will then select New catalog concern from the dropdown menu.
After selecting New catalog concern from the menu, a dialog box will appear, which can be filled out and submitted to the catalogers for review.
Once the catalog concern is submitted, the pending concern will be visible in the Concerns tab on the bibliographic record in the staff interface. There is an option to have an email sent to the cataloging team to notify them of the new reported concern.
To allow patrons to submit a catalog concern from the OPAC, there are a few additional steps besides enabling OpacCatalogConcerns. The system preference OpacReportProblem must also be enabled, email addresses for the intended recipients of the concern should be entered in the CatalogerEmails system preference, and the associated notices (TICKET_NOTIFY, TICKET_ACKNOWLEDGE, TICKET_RESOLVE, and TICKET_UPDATE) must all have content.
Patrons who are logged into the OPAC will be able to submit a catalog concern directly from the bibliographic record by clicking on the Report a concern option located in the gray section on the right side of their screen.
A dialog box similar to the one in the staff interface will display, prompting the patron to provide details about their concern and submit it for review. An acknowledgement notice will go out to OPAC users who report a concern, and patrons will then be returned to the bibliographic record they were reporting from.
